Wow. So many mixed reviews. I understand all of them. On one hand I can tell you that I graduated in 1980. After graduation I studied heavily everyday because though I have been to college I was a criminal justice major, Psycology Minor. I opted out of college to try a different career path as I was young had a small family and was looking for something greater. I know that some of My classmates at BCSI did not find work after we graduated.I sent out 300 resumes to company and received 3 responses for an interview. I finally got an offer to come on board at a junior level Business analyst. I made the best of this opportunity taking all training the company had to offer. I also went back to college as the company at that time was paying 85% of college tuition and books. what I learned from this entire process is there is not given opportunities because you attended a certain institution. You have to make the best of it by reaching and relearning and giving you all to the change and the challenge and not allowing anyone to tell you that you can't do it. My interview was interesting. The managers kept asking me "why should we hire you". You don't have any of the qualifications for the job". I had to sell myself on everything i knew including how having me as an employee would be an asset to the company. They hired me and now after 34 years working in IT based organizations throughout many industries I am tankful and appreciative that BCSI ,Middlesex county college, Morris county College and Fairleigh Dickinson University all accepted me and gave me an opportunity. You must realize the education is a "seed". It is up to you to nurture it and help it to grow.

I went there in the mid 1980's for Computer Technician. When I startd class I discovered that I was the oldest person in the class, even older that all but one of the instructors. After being out of school 10 years I had to relearn all my study habits. I worked my butt off and graduated in the top ten.
After graduating I went on several interviews. Every recruiter told me to stay in the profession I was in, machinist, as I would make more money. I did and did. For the past 26 years I've been working in Quality Assurance as an Inspector and using all the skills I learned over the years including those I learned at BCSI. Waste of time? NO!

After 30+ years in the IT industry, I realize what a ripoff this crappy school was. The fact that it went broke and was bulldozed is a benefit to all mankind.

For what it is worth, I graduated back in 1984 in Data Processing Equipment Repair. I have been in the IT industry since that time. I have done well, but I have also had to study on my own. I am now getting ready to retire, but BCSI did help me get started in the IT field and because of them I have been able to provide for my family.

Does anyone know where you can contact to get your transcripts? I graduated but have lost my cert/degree (computer programming) and jobs want proof. since the place closed down, has anyone been given a contact number where they may have been transferred since the closure?

I would be very interested to know what year everyone graduated. It seems to me that if you went in the 80s/90s for IT that the experience panned out for you. I graduated the program in 2001 for Graphic Design. When I completed my paperwork for the program I was told that I would receive a thorough education in Print as well as Web Design. The other option was CAD and 3D Graphics. Once the program was slated to begin, we were told that we needed to choose between Print and Web Design as they were separating the programs, but that we would still be paying the same tuition. I did not find this fair at all but at this point I was sure that I wanted to be a graphic designer. I chose Print and received loans to pay my tuition. I did put my all into the program. I maintained a 4.0 and received honors. We were sent out on interviews and the office staff laughed at me quoting "I heard you bombed the interview!" This did not help me at all. I have a certification and the skills, but the whole experience was to me a rip off since I later taught myself web design, video production and motion graphics and THIS is how I now make my living years later.

Sorry to hear so many complaints. I landed a great job right out of school went on to become an employee of IBM and then moved on to the federal government. Been in the 6 digit world since the early 90's.
I have to agree with Joe. I put my all into learning and it paid off. I knew some who just didn't belong there as their heart was not into it. At least one of the complaints I am reading is in this category and I spent much time trying to help besides.
Hope everyone found a way despite your experience, if not, get back to school!

I attended the school in 1980. When I graduated I had 2 job offers. I worked for Wang then later for Digital Equipment. I worked in the field for over 15 years and earned a good living. I have no complaints.

I graduated in 1991 and although I'm not earning a 6 digit salary, I'm doing pretty good earning a living in IT. I paid for my night schooling while holding down a full time day job, so I graduated debt free. I probably would be better off having a college degree, but for what it cost me, the school was a positive experience for me.
I seen a comment someone posted that they still are 9k in debt, well at least they didn't attend a 4 year college and are 100k in debt.

Sad to hear that the school went 'belly-up'. Maybe they should have merged with another tech school.
I graduated from BCSI in 1981; did more programs during those months in RPG, Cobol and Assembler than most of the community schools.
Now, some 20+ years later I am earning 6 digits working in IT.
Its true what the say where you get out of it what you put into it. I agree that schoolscollegesuniversities are ALL ripoffs and see it more now with my own kids attending school. The fact that BCSI closed its doors doesn't make them stick out.
One of my contracts was with Columbia University and I can tell you that there were graduates that funded their entire school years; graduated and still looking for jobs.
In my opinion the Education Industry in the US is a SHAM don't blame any one school!

Funny thing about this school that is now gone. When you started they told you up front you will get out of it what you put into it like any school. Well 15 years later I make high 6 figures and work as VP of technology for a large company. I can't thank them enough!

The school is a ripoff,i regretted going to the school.I am still paying student loan more than 10,000 dollars. We need to report the school authority to justice.

Would definitely love to be a part of a class action suit if one goes forward. I too am still paying off this loan and got nowhere with the education I received. I can't even get transcript copies or credits applied anywhere if I wanted to go to a legitimate school.

This school was the biggest joke. I can't believe we all fell for their trick. Jokes on us, I'm still 9k in debt.
From: siobhan d cline | submitted: May 17, 2011
this school was the biggest waste of time and money.when it came to present our portfolios to the professional prospects, they laughed at the whole classes porfolio, and said that we had to stay another 6 months to redo it all... can't up keep their promise with the education that they promised.

This school ruined our lives. In debt for last 8 years as the school closed its doors in 8/04. Did you know Mr. Forshee sold the school and the building for $4.5 million dollars and never returned any of our student loan money to the proper source? He is a thief and should be prosecuted!!! He ruined many lives and put many of us in horrible financial situations. If anyone is interested in seeing about a class action law suit please post here. I think all the "victims of Mr. Forshee's scheme" need to unite!!!!!

This ripoff "school" is closed an has been bulldozed. Nothing made me happier to see a PetCo on this site.
